Residential Night Workers monitor and attend to the well-being and safety of youth residents during the night. They also maintain a comfortable and clean living common area environment for our residents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors residents through the night and attend to any behavioural needs that arise
  • Follows through on direction regarding specific residents left by the day staff
  • Facilitates evening programming as identified
  • Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Ensures that residents follow house rules
  • Monitors regulations and reports to appropriate authorities as required
  • Ensures that logbooks and other documentation such as charts and incident reports are complete
  • Performs light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, emptying garbage and light cleaning
  • Reports maintenance needs to the Housing Facilitator
  • Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field. A combination of education and previous experience will be considered
  • Able to follow direction, learn new tasks quickly and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including spreadsheet and data base software and have knowledge of general office routines
  • Demonstrated one-one-one and group facilitation skills

The Residential Night Worker will possess the following attributes:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality while functioning in an environment where time sensitive issues and projects are addressed effectively. Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication
  • Ability to handle conflict/difficult situations in a professional manner
  • Adaptable, flexible and quick to absorb and retain information
  • Comfortable working with a wide variety of people exercising a non-judgmental, respectful approach

Hours: Monday to Friday
4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. (37.5 hours per week.)
Some hours outside regularly scheduled work hours may occasionally be necessary.
