What is it


A Youth Skills Link program that builds community partnerships and connects motivated, job ready youth with valuable employment opportunities in the Construction and Trades industry.

Youth between the ages of 15-30, out of work and out of school, Canadian citizens, permanent residents, legally entitled to work in Canada, and not in receipt of Employment Insurance


Provincial BladeRunners is a BC stipend youth employment training program intended to provide employment to out of school and unemployed youth 16-30 years of age, with employment opportunities in the construction and trades sector and/or other industry sectors. Employers will have an opportunity to provide youth with up to 60 hours of work experience at NO cost to the employer.

BladeRunners will

  • Participate in 4 weeks of in-class foundation training skill enhancement
  • Be eligible for safety gear and tools required for work
  • Gain hands-on experience with power tools
  • Obtain First Aid OFA Level 1, WHMIS, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Ladder Safety, Asbestos Abatement and Respiratory Protection
  • Obtain Forklift Operator Certification and Flagging Certificate, H2S Alive
  • Participate in construction safety awareness
  • Participate in up to 60 hours of work experience
