Tune iN- functions as an outreach initiative of the One Stop. Offers free musical instrument instruction to those youth whose economic and social circumstances preclude their regular participation in music as an ongoing creative outlet.

 

Youth have access to free musical instrument instruction and music expression on a regular basis every Sunday from noon to 4:30PM at the NYSA Drop in facility. Musical mentoring is provided by local musician volunteers in partnership with NYSA staff.

 

• Opportunities to jam and perform music with friends and make new friends

• Build musical skills in singing and writing lyrics

• Record music and shoot video with supportive and musically experienced and accomplished Youth Workers

• Learn the basics of audio and CD and/ or video production

• Attend live concerts

 

Our program was initiated by a Christmas donation of $500 from a local family who wanted to donate to a Youth serving organization in honor of their son. The Keg Restaurant chain recently awarded NYSA’s Tune iN program a $25,000 grant for new equipment.
